FIRE FIRE FIRE ! ! !

Today we were lucky to have Phillip and Wi (from Room 11) in our class for the day.

We made pictures pretending there was a fire in our house, and we had to escape from the smoke. Here are the pictures that the boys did. We think they look great with all the smoke

(we used charcoal) billowing in from the doors and filling their rooms. Get out quick boys!

Little John and Big John

Two fire fighters ( Little John and Big John) came to our school to help us to be 'firewise'.
Little John helped us to understand the difference between tools (for adults to use) and toys that are safe to play with. He read us a book about keeping safe if there is a fire at home.
Then we practised 'Get down, Get low, Get out' in the bouncy castle house.

At the Fire Station

Posted by PicasaLook at our class at the Fire Station
We went in a fire engine, squirted water from a fire hose, had a look inside the fire station and met lots of fire fighters. Look at Miss Boyd getting changed into her fire fighter's gear - the shiny tape lets people see the fire fighters easily at night or at a fire.
Thank you Miss Boyd for arranging such a fabulous trip.
Now we all want to be fire fighters when we grow up.

Prince and Princess Puddings

This week our "Big Book' was 'The King's Pudding'.
We made our own puddings. We went up to the staffroom and cooked them in the microwave oven. Then we poured custard over the top and ate them. YUM!Posted by Picasa

Mother's Day Cards

Look at the lovely cards we made for our mum's to say "we love you" on Mother's Day.

Balloon Powered Cars

We loved seeing Room 3's balloon powered cars, so we decided to make some ourselves and race them. Thank you Miss Yardley and Room 3 for the wonderful idea.

Samara's Robot

Samara made a robot with wheels. What an original idea. Well done Samara!Posted by Picasa

Wheels, Wheels, Wheels

As part of our 'Wheels Unit' we made models of things that have wheels. All the wheels on our models can turn. Then we had races to see whose vehicle could go the furtherest and the fastest.

Autumn Walk

We walked to Warren Park with Mrs Ward's and Miss Yardley's classes to play in the Autumn leaves. We made huge piles of leaves and jumped on them, threw leaves in the air, and built nests and pretended we were birds. What great fun!

TERM TWO - New Children

We have seven new children in our class who have come from Room 16. Welcome Samara, Jaden, Zeb, George, Kahnye, Marley and Quinn. We are so lucky to have such good workers come into our class.

Easter Bunnies

It is nearly Easter! We made Easter cards, sang easter songs, danced easter bunny dances and had an easter egg hunt. Look at the cute Easter Bunnies!Add Image

Our Student - Miss Gannaway

For the last three weeks of Term One we were very lucky to have Miss Gannaway in our room. She is learning to be a teacher and this was her first practicum. We loved having her in our class, especially when she read stories to us and helped us with our work. We hope you look on our blog Miss Gannaway to see all the exciting things we will be doing in Term Two.

Old Tuataras

We have some amazing artists in our class. Here are some Tuataras we made out of dough.

Swimming lessons

We swam in the school pool every afternoon and got very confident going in, on and under the water.
Some of us can even swim better than Mrs Clayton!

Bledisloe Cup

We were lucky to get to see and touch the Bledisloe Cup and meet 'Rugger'. It was huge.
